Pemuteran, NW Bali

Pemuteran, Bali (June 11-17th)
Sun, sand and snorkeling: that pretty much sums up the last several days here in Pemuteran, a quiet and lazy little village along the black sand beaches of the Northwestern Balinese coast not far from Java. From our lounge chairs at the resort pool we can see the volcano mountain tops of Java as we sip refreshing local juices of banana, watermelon and honeydew. Yesterday we spent the day boating out to the popular diving and snorkeling island of Menjangan which was quite spectacular. The water here is very clear with a coral reef that drops down 30m vertical just offshore where the variety and number of tropical fish is very impressive – even Barracuda. But most impressive was Anisa snorkeling for the first time! Our snorkel and boat boy said she’s the youngest he’s ever seen snorkeling from his boat. Cianna also loves snorkeling now and practices in the swimming pool, she’s becoming quite the fish in water and is swimming very well with no help now.
